Cleaning up the Few Tal.
We decided to clean up Pokhara one weekend. We had just finished a Kaligandaki Rafting trip so had all our euqipment in the area and thought we would take advantage of the situation. The Fewa Tal (the Lake) is the main attraction of popular tourist destination Pokhara but we were getting quite upset about the condition it was in with rubbish littering the banks the whole way around. With a team made up of GRG staff and a few friends we set off in our kayaks and rafts and collected as much rubbish as we could get our hands on! By the time it was evening we had filled our raft over 6 times!! We even had a visit from a friendly policeman who was wondering who was paying us to do this...he looked surprised when we replied no one was paying us and we just wanted to do it! Unfortunatley this is not a long term fix, although it did made the lake look much nicer for the following months. But we hope to continue these efforts and hope that we set a good example for everyone in the area.
